As Gibraltar moves closer to the new sewage plant being in action.
Spanish divers taking water samples from the sea in Palma say there are so many fecal remains it actually smells. “But it’s okay” someone says “the fish eat this”. So now we have reduced the fish diet to fecal remains and plastics. Because in Spain they are used to discarding their residues into their rivers and surrounding waters, and the regional municipalities are not for spending money clearing or purifying its rivers, they are now paying a hefty price for it. Due to recent heavy rainfalls many regions in Spain have sadly suffered not only the loss of lives; including that of hundreds of livestock; but of properties all through a lack of maintenance of their rivers. On 15 September 1940 the Luftwaffe embarked on their largest bombing attack of Britain thus far in WWII. This forced the Royal Air Force to launch every available fighter aircraft in defence of London and the South East of England. The result was a decisive victory that proved to be a turning point in favour of the Royal Air Force in, what was to become known as, the Battle of Britain. For this reason 15 September is recognised by the Royal Air Force as Battle of Britain Day. Read more

Government will be providing facilities at the Extension Jetty for vessels berthed alongside to be able to connect to shore power (known as ‘cold ironing’). In this way they will be able to switch off their engines and so reduce the amount of emissions that they produce while alongside. Read more

Clubhouse Gibraltar is happy to announce that two Clubhouse Staff members, Kevin Fowler and Darryl Britto, have been assessed by Mental Health First Aid England and are now approved trainers for the Youth Course in addition to the Mental Health First Aid Adult Courses. The Mental Health First Aid Youth courses were first delivered in Gibraltar in February and April 2019 and positive feedback was received from all those who attended. Read more

On Monday night, the Government of Gibraltar issued a press release, following the closure of Gibraltar Airport on Sunday evening due to air traffic controller sickness. The Government statement suggested that “when other off-duty controllers were then asked to cover this absence, no-one was willing to do so”. The statement went on to say “the Government regrets that …the controllers were clearly not being as cooperative as they could have been.” Read more
