Down Syndrome swimmer Adam Stewart has returned from competing in the European Open Championships in Olbia Sardinia .
Adam competed in 6 events in the 35 plus category .He came first in 5 events and 3rd in one event with 6 PBs and attained 4 European Records all for long course . All the hard work Adam has put in ,in the pool and gym , including open water swimming and the training and advice by his coaches Natalie GASA and Annie Mary has paid off. Read more

The Gibraltar Dyslexia Support Group (GDSG) yesterday held a seminar on the Positive Impact of Dyslexia in the workplace at John Macintosh Hall, educating the over 200 audience members who attended.
The seminar, held from 9am to midday, focused on letting people know of the positives and strengths that Dyslexic people have. Read more

Unite, the union for workers in Gibraltar, has today (23rd September) formally launched the Unite Political Manifesto for a better, fairer and more equal Gibraltar. Following the call for a general election on the 17th October the manifesto which has been developed throughout 2019 was shared last week with each of the political parties with an invite to meet to discuss in more detail the proposals, the response from political parties to meet has been positive. GibSams will be holding “Green Friday” on 27th September to raise awareness and funds for the charity. We would ask that everyone, schoolchildren, company staff and the public wear an item of green on Friday 27th.
GibSams believe that if we can break the stigma surrounding mental health and get everyone talking, we can improve mental wellbeing for all. Emotions have no age or gender. Whether you are young or old, male or female, at some point in our lives we will all feel sad, depressed, lonely and scared for what the future may hold or events that are taking place in our daily lives. Gibraltar Pro Life Movement (GPLM) has produced a family policy document entitled 'Creating a Village' detailing over twenty five ways of fostering a more inclusive, caring and fairer society in Gibraltar.
Commenting on the production of the document, spokesperson Clare Bensadon said:"As the proverb goes: it takes a village to raise a child. We hope that our family policy document will help nurture and preserve the strong family values the Gibraltarian community has been built on and so far enjoyed." Read more

The Government have published a commemorative booklet to mark the 50th anniversary of the closure of the border in 1969.
It will be recalled that on 8 June 1969, General Franco closed the land border between Gibraltar and Spain. This was part of a two-pronged approach on Gibraltar. The first was a campaign against the United Kingdom at the United Nations and the second direct action against Gibraltar and its people on the ground. Read more

Brexit should not affect the frontier in a negative sense, unless there are those who might wish to ignore the democratic reality of the situation.
It must not be forgotten that when Gibraltar joined what was then the European Economic Community, which is now the EU, it was at our own request that we were excluded from a number of regulations, largely affecting the frontier. Read more
