The Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia will officially open an international symposium this Thursday on the subject of Borders and Bordering in the 21st Century. The event will take place at the Garrison Library.
The topic this year has been driven by the 2019 commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the closure of the border in 1969 and by wider concerns worldwide in relation to borders including the impact of Brexit. Read more

Following the latest news about the completion of beautification works to Catalan Bay by the Ministry of Housing, the Gibraltar Tourist Board is running a competition for the best photograph of Catalan Bay. The Chief Minister Fabian Picardo, accompanied by Minister for Education and Environment Professor John Cortes, signed the ‘Made by Dyslexia Pledge’ this morning at No 6 Convent Place.
This follows the seminar ‘Diversity & Inclusion: The positive impact of dyslexia in the workplace’ held at the John Mackintosh Hall on Tuesday. Read more

The Government’s persistent and stubborn refusal to construct housing for rental other than for pensioners is causing serious hardship and distress to those who are unable to rent in the private sector or partake of die so called low-cost housing under the 50/50 housing scheme. These include those unable to obtain mortgages either because they are low earners or are elderly, says Action for Housing. Read more
