The GSD notes the recent statement by the Gibraltar Health Authority's, Director of Public Health and the evolving picture in China and around the world. It is clear that the confirmed cases of the virus now stands at 2,827, suspected cases having reached 5,794 and 30,400 are being monitored. The spread of the virus is almost national wide in the Peoples Republic of China with confirmed reports that the virus is infectious even before symptoms show. Read more

There was generally, a somewhat disturbing response to our report yesterday where I revealed ‘the RGP were investigating an alleged connection between the Gibraltar Police Federation (GPF) and Panorama.’
At the centre of this investigation is the October 2019 article which this newspaper published where we reported on the GPF internal survey of officers. Where once again for the second year running it was highlighted that there were continuing serious ‘workplace bullying’ issues which in parts, surpassed the same survey result conducted in 2018. A hard Brexit that hampers cross-border fluidity could place the future of Gibraltar’s €1.2 million per year waste deal with a Spanish company under threat. This is according to a report by Spanish publication last month following a meeting in London between Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and Juan Lozano, President of the Mancomunidad de Municipios.

I purposely delayed preparing this report in the hope that an RGP senior officer would contact me or Panorama to hopefully confirm they have put a stop, to a simply outrageous RGP senior command decision to investigate top Gibraltar Police Federation representatives, which without doubt, can only be a misguided allegation by the RGP top senior brains, where it is alleged, Gibraltar Police Federation Chairman Sergeant Maurice Morello and Secretary PC. Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar is set to introduce ‘Jack’s Law,’ under which bereaved parents will be entitled to two weeks of paid leave from work. In the UK, this initiative became known as ‘Jack’s Law’ in memory of Jack Herd whose mother, Lucy Herd, campaigned relentlessly on the issue. Read more
