The government is proposing a long-term legal framework for Gibraltar firms to access the UK market.
It is also looking to “facilitate the maintenance” of regulatory and supervisory arrangements necessary to support the Gibraltar Authorisation Regime (Gar) policy. The UK will work with the government of Gibraltar to develop similar provisions in Gibraltar law to give UK firms reciprocity. Read more

The British government wants to extend watchdog and compensation protections to consumers of Gibraltar’s financial services companies when the Brexit transition ends.
The Treasury has launched a consultation to find out if the market and consumers support setting up a financial ombudsman to deal with complaints and a compensation scheme to safeguard money held on account or in investments. Read more

The Chamber and the GFSB welcome the initial economic measures announced by the Chief Minister yesterday in order to help businesses during this crisis. The measures announced are a good start to alleviate some of the economic hardship to the businesses most affected at this moment in time by this crisis. At the first of the daily press conferences yesterday, the chief minister Fabian Picardo was joined by the Acting Medical Director, Krish Rawal. "As the PANDEMIC continues its progress through our community, we have to ensure that our resources are structured properly," said Mr Picardo.

As the COVID-19 crisis intensifies, of course it is right to worry, but at the same time… it would also be wrong to panic!

People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales.
These droplets land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. Read more

The Government has taken the decision to temporarily close Gibraltar House in London in the face of the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. Gibraltar House in Brussels will remain open for the time being.
