Only wear a mask if you are ill with COVID-19 symptoms (especially coughing) or looking after someone who may have COVID-19. Disposable face mask can only be used once. If you are not ill or looking after someone who is ill then you are wasting a mask. There is a world-wide shortage of masks, so WHO urges people to use masks wisely. Read more

Chief Minister Fabian Picardo says it was a pleasure to speak with the Spanish foreign minister Arancha Gonzalez Laya. They talked about how they are working together against the Coronavirus, keeping border fluidity whilst respecting the State of Emergency in Spain and the restrictions in Gibraltar. Read more

Easyjet’s Bristol flight, carrying considerable numbers of University students heading home, attempted two landings at Gibraltar but both were aborted because of the gale force winds.
The aircraft diverted to Malaga but Spanish bureaucracy, associated with their lockdown measures, went into total confusion when this unexpected aircraft landed. Read more

The Government has convened a meeting of the Parliament tomorrow at 11am, where emergency budgetary and other measures will be taken. The Opposition has adopted a cooperative approach, said the Government.
The Government is relying on the power to convene Parliament in an emergency without having to give the usual five clear days notice.
Opposition Members have all agreed not to ask questions for this meeting. Read more

The GSD says it has been working with the Government to ensure it can present an emergency budget at short notice to deal with the impact of the Covid-19 Crisis on public finances.
Roy Clinton the GSD Shadow Minster for Public Finance and Small Businesses stated:
“This is an Emergency Budget in Extraordinary and unprecedented times for Gibraltar and requires Parliament to act decisively and collectively in regard to our public finances. Read more

Many of us are grappling with the enormity of the response required to address the COVID-19 virus which the World Health Organization or WHO declared a pandemic last week.
The Age of the Coronavirus - Social Distancing the Order of the Day
We have all been asked to take preventative measures to “flatten the so-called curve,” so to speak. The latter, includes, practising ‘Social Distancing’ so that we can reduce the odds of overburdening the healthcare system. Hugely logical, especially in a small nation like ours. Read more

As soon as it was announced that schools would be closing in the UK on Friday, Gibraltar students were jumping with joy at being able to return to Gibraltar in these difficult times. They rushed to book their reservations in flights to Gibraltar, where parents were also delighted in having their children back home. Read more
