Double standards from Spain are well known especially when it comes to Gibraltar, the British overseas territory which Spain ceded to Britain over 300 years ago - and wants it back! This was described as a 'ridiculous' claim by Gibraltarian representatives at the UN this week. Read more

The UK-Spain Tax Treaty and the other Brexit related UK-Spain Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) do not protect Gibraltar’s British Sovereignty or self-governing status under the 2006 Constitution. The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo’s, persistent defence is based on spin and delusion, yet he continues that mistaken argument publicly, even before the UN Committee of 24, says the GSD. Read more

Independent MP and leader of Together Gibraltar Marlene Hassan Nahon, accompanied by Executive Party Secretary Kamlesh Khubchand in an assistant role, took part in a series of talks with prominent MPs from three political parties. The MPs were: Michael Gapes, a member of Change UK and MP for Ilford South, Dominic Grieve QC, Conservative politician and MP for Beaconsfield, and Sir Lindsay Hoyle of the Labour Party and MP for Chorley. The Ministry of Equality has delivered a presentation to the Gibraltar Youth Services management team and youth club members of all 4 Youth Clubs in the Youth Services Headquarters at Line Wall Road. We ought to change our UN tactics, adopting a new tune - but it would be wrong to blame the present CM because it is something that goes back a long time - and I am sure Mr Picardo may agree with me when he reads my proposal.
The purpose of the exercise is to remove Gibraltar from the list of colonies, but for as long as the UN keeps saying that we are a colony, it is the Spanish contention that wins the day for them - even if we do not like it. Read more

The Department of the Environment, Heritage and Climate Change (DEHCC) says it would like to inform all anglers that the open season for Bluefin tuna in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters (BGTW) commenced on Sunday 16th June and ends on the 14th October 2019 or until the Total Allowable Catch (TAC) is reached. Anglers are reminded that a Class K licence is required to fish for Bluefin tuna and there will be a total allowable catch of 15.5 tonnes after which the season will close. Read more
