Although life in Gibraltar seems peaceful and its standing as an impenetrable fortress increasingly obsolete in modern warfare, she still serves as guardian to the Mediterranean. Read more

One important election issue I’m a sure politicians from all sides will be closely observing on Thursday is voter participation?
It’s fair to say that as a voting nation Gibraltar has always taken its democratic duties seriously recording some impressive voter turn out figures that would bring shame on many much larger democracies.
Voter Turnout Dropped in Last Election
The last election in 2015 registered a 70.8% voter turn out which was about 10% down from the 80.51% who voted in 2011. Though I don’t believe we can complain about local voter participation the 10% drop in the last election was surprising to many! Read more

However, as both schools have enough open play areas in patios and rooftops for their purposes, it will not be used by the schools and will be open during the day. This will be especially welcome by mothers with children of pre-school age. Read more

Minority groups in Gibraltar?
Am I correct in saying that what I read recently about the Youth forum and one of their requests to Government which was granted there and then, translates into what my argument queries? Firstly, I welcome the fact that an Arabic teacher is to be incorporated at the Gibraltar College. Gibraltar has always had very strong ties with North Africa including our historical connection, and it would be a source of pride to be able to learn their language amongst others. Read more
