I am delighted to share with the people of Gibraltar the exciting news of what took place in Dominica after I delivered my U.N. speech and to thank those who have put comments in support of the views and sentiments of the speech, which is what I've been arguing at the UN since I started going there as Chief Minister against the wishes of the UK government at the time and with the objective of killing off the Brussels process, which is now as good as dead. 1991 was a significant year for Ornella Serra, previously known as Ornella Costa, as it was the year that she won Miss Gibraltar 1991. At only 17 years of age, she travelled to places such as South Africa and the USA, to make memories that will last an entire lifetime. In present time, the previous beauty pageant winner is married and has two boys aged 20 and 26, and has been a school teacher for around 17 years. Read more

Hello Gibraltar! And a very, very happy National Day. A year ago, when I spoke to you all through a video link, I don’t think any of us thought we’d be having to do it again. I’m afraid we are, because of the pandemic restrictions. That doesn’t mean that my colleagues and I in the All Party Parliamentary Group for Gibraltar aren’t entering into the spirit. We’re here, as you can see, in the white and red, to make sure that we celebrate National Day with you. This most important day in the calendar.

National Day celebrates the referendum result 54 years ago, when Gibraltar voted by a landslide to remain British. Being in Main Street this morning, seeing all the flags and bunting, it is hard not to reflect on just how much history the United Kingdom and Gibraltar have shared and, importantly today, just how inseparable the UK and Gibraltar remain. The proposed Rosia Bay project came before the Development and Planning Commission yesterday morning, to consider the draft Scoping Opinion of the Town Planner, Paul Origo, on what the scope of the Environmental Impact Assessment should entail. Three NGOs disagreed to the project even being considered at this stage. Read more
