Once the UK is out of the way, Pedro Sanchez hopes that the EU will swing behind its 300 years old claim to recover sovereignty over the Rock. But his particular flirting with foreign policy has left those in Brussels uneasy. The GSD says it welcomes the Advocate General’s opinion in the proceedings currently before the European Court of Justice that an Article 50 notification of departure from the EU given by a Member State is capable of being withdrawn. Read more

The first flight arrived into Gibraltar from London Luton at 15:50 yesterday with 125 passengers onboard.
The new service is operating twice weekly year round on Tuesdays and Saturdays on an Airbus A319 aircraft with fares starting from £15.72. Read more

There is a feeling in some uninformed circles in Spain that because Gibraltar voted against Brexit in the referendum that this was an ani-UK vote - and that Gibraltarians might favour a deal with Spain to remain in the EU!
Suddenly, interest is being revived in the old and failed 'Party for the Autonomy of Gibraltar', with a full page given to it in the Spanish daily El Mundo. Read more

As highlighted yesterday ‘sovereignty, jurisdiction and control’ frequently comes into joint play where offences contrary to Gibraltar laws are continuously committed and with no effective, robust, efficient or a well-planned police enforcement policy we see daily that illegal fishing in BGTW has increased. Even more disturbing is the fact that these illegal fishing offences are committed daily with total impunity.
