As announced last June, a BA (Hons) in Social Work is now available in Gibraltar. The course will be delivered by Kingston University London and St George’s University of London, in conjunction with the Care Agency and the Gibraltar Health Authority’s School of Health Studies. Read more

Rumanian national Ionut Alexandru Mocanu, 34, who was stopped by Borders and Coastguards officers on December 31 2018 attempting to cross into Gibraltar, after immigration checks alerted to the existence of a European Arrest Warrant in his name, has been handed over by the RGP to the Rumanian police at the land border. The local branch of the Royal British Legion has announced that last year’s traditional Poppy Day collection raised some £16,000.
The Poppy Day Appeal is the Royal British Legion’s biggest fundraising campaign held every year in November, the period of Remembrance. The first Poppy Appeal was held in 1921, the founding year of The Royal British Legion. Read more

The Gibraltar International Chess Festival opened yesterday with an “extremely hectic” day. There was the arrival, registration and catching up with old friends and making new. But most importantly everyone wanted to know who they were playing in the opening round and so the first of the pairings on Monday night were drawn – with the help of last year’s winner Levon Aronian and Miss Gibraltar 2018 Star Farrugia– determining who would play the top seed in this year’s tournament.
