Unite, the union for workers in Gibraltar, has called on its group of MPs in Westminster to write to Gibraltar chief minister Fabian Picardo to express their support for the campaign to decriminalise abortion. Read more

The Association was registered as a Charity in April 2004 and was set up with the main aim of financially assisting sponsored patients, requiring medical treatment outside Gibraltar. Besides the financial support, the Association also helps patients by giving them information, especially those who travel abroad for the first time and has also served as a pressure group to get the Government of the day to improve the Sponsored Patients Scheme. Representatives of the Association have met with the four different Ministers who have been responsible for the Health Service since 2004 to make proposals and discuss improvements. Read more

Local dancer, Amy Wink, 14, from Stylos Dance Studios, has won the international award for her talent and performances at the Sussex Festival of Dance and Song. Amy, who is also a member of the Gibraltar National Team, participated in the senior section of the ‘Sussex Dancer of the Year’. She performed two dance routines that were especially choreographed by Lilian and Lauren Montero. Read more

Towards the end of 2018, HM Government of Gibraltar launched the Sale of Power Tender, for electricity generated via solar Photo Voltaic (PV) technology, in collaboration with the Gibraltar Electricity Authority, as part of its commitment to increase renewable energy production and reduce carbon emissions. After returning from the Special Olympics with a gold medal for his open water swim , Adam Stewart along with his sister Lucy have been competing at the Down Syndrome Swimming Federation Open European Championships at the Quays Southampton on the 6/7th April winning a handful of medals, Adam won 3 gold , 1 silver ,1 bronze and Lucy 2 silver, 1 bronze plus 4th place ribbons. They both improved on there times in most races with Adam knocking 14 seconds off his 100 meters freestyle. Read more

For the seventh consecutive year, Laguna Youth Club organised the Care in the Community Easter Hamper project. This year the focus was entirely on the elderly and vulnerable in the community, with youth club members preparing and delivering hampers to many of them. Read more

The Gibraltar Tourist Board is launching its biggest trade initiative in over a decade. Calling the scheme ‘Gibraltar 2020’ and working together in the UK with its tour operator and airline partners and in Gibraltar with hoteliers, ground agents and tourist attractions, the Tourist Board will be running monthly familiarisation trips with the aim to bring 200 agents from the UK to Gibraltar over the next 2 years.
