Throughout this week, Governor’s Meadow First School opened its doors for the first time to host a special Parent and Child Reading Session, in conjunction with Book Week.
The school’s sports hall was converted into a library, with special reading mats, shelves of books and comfy chairs especially for the event which saw their students from Nursery age to Year 3 enjoy the company of their parents for half an hour during the school day. Read more

Yesterday, children and parents at St Bernard’s Nursery enjoyed a special Billy Goats Gruff Challenge. This is very first challenge of its kind and is in conjunction with Book Week, resulting from the nursery’s focus on fairy tales. Read more

The Gibraltar International Dance Federation have officially presented the 2019 Team Gibraltar that will attend I.D.F. World Dance Championships in Pula, Croatia.
Gibraltar will be competing in Dance Show, Fantasy Dance, Free Show, Fit Kid,Hip Hop and Belly Dance. The Team will participate in Solos, Duos, Couples, Groups and Formations, in the Mini (ages 6-9),Youth (10-13), Junior(14-16) and Adults (16 plus) Categories. Read more

On a recent visit to Gibraltar, I was surprised to hear someone tell me that the local branch of the Instituto Cervantes, now closed, ‘is missed here’. This was in marked contrast to what I had read for many years, namely that it was unwelcome, unwanted, and seen as a Trojan horse for Spanish influence, not just cultural, but also political, a kind of listening post or den of spies. It has become practically the norm, that when any news event of any importance or value occurs, a certain few in the local press, in fact the same small nit group, will pop out of the woodwork and indirectly or directly claim they had seen or reported on it first or credit each other in respective appreciation news reports. The Special Olympics Gibraltar team depart for the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2019 in Abu Dhabi, today. The 19 athletes plus 13 coaches and officials will be leaving on the afternoon flight to Manchester before they travel onwards to Abu Dhabi on Thursday. Read more
