The Ministry for Health, Care and Justice has recruited 43 new Nursing Assistants. The newly appointed nurses will be deployed across Gibraltar Health Authority (GHA) facilities; including, St Bernard’s Hospital and Ocean Views Mental Health Facility, as well as Elderly Residential Services (ERS) facilities. Looking back, the Chief Minister has always lost no time in proclaiming that there has been no cesssion of sovereignty, jurisdiction and control. For example when Gibraltar concluded the deal on the EU Gibraltar Protocol, Mr Picardo said that it 'contains absolutely no concessions on sovereignty, jurisdiction or control.' Read more

Statement from Samantha Sacramento, Minister for Equality on International Women’s Day 2019
This year’s general theme for international Women’s Day is ‘Balance for Better’ and there can be no doubt that a more gender balanced world is the way forward.
Although we are celebrating this today, I have to stress that, my team at the Ministry of Equality works and leads on equality matters all year long. They work resolutely and very often behind the scenes but their work is instrumental in effecting positive change. Read more

Ever since I heard on the news that the much awaited sewage treatment plant is soon be built in Gibraltar, I have been pondering on the matter of the sludge; which was also mentioned at the time; which is intended for landfill in Spain. Read more

The adjudicator who will be coming over for the 2019 Gibraltar Drama Festival is Mrs Cherry Stephenson.
Ms Stephenson has trained in Drama at the Bretton Hall College of Education. She first worked as a Secondary Drama Specialist in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and then a Drama Therapist, before moving to Leicestershire, where she became a member of the Drama and Dance Educational Advisory Service. Read more
