The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, has tested positive for COVID-19 upon his return from the UK. Mrs Picardo, who travelled with the Chief Minister, has tested negative.
Mr Picardo was asymptomatic and his condition was detected in the PCR taken within 24 hours after arrival from the UK.
As a result of this outcome, Mr Picardo is required to self-isolate at home. Read more

The Convent has been a prominent historical building in Gibraltar since the 16th Century. The building has been the official residence of the Governor of Gibraltar since 1728.
It was originally a convent for Franciscan friars, and was built in 1531, with major renovations taking place during the 18th and 19th centuries, however what you might not know is that Franciscan Friars actually arrived in Gibraltar many years prior in 1480, and occupied the land by building wooden huts and planting a garden. The Government of Gibraltar can confirm that an additional consignment of almost 5,000 doses of Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines were expected to arrive in Gibraltar last night. The vaccines left the UK vaccine storage facility in Merseyside yesterday morning packed in -70C ultra-cold storage containers bound for RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire. Read more

Gibraltar Defence Police (GDP) senior officers have been to the UK to receive command training from the College of Policing and those delivering the College’s mandated syllabus.
The GDP are mandated to meet all applicable UK policing standards in relation to the deployment of armed officers on both land and in a marine capacity. Read more
