ABOUT €100 MILLION IN STATE AID BY GIBRALTAR TO SEVERAL MULTINATIONAL COMPANIES
Following the confirmation by the United Kingdom that the full recovery of the illegal State aid granted by Gibraltar to several multinational companies has been finalised, the Commission has decided to repeal its decision to launch a Court action against the United Kingdom for failure to implement the recovery order. Blue ID (civilian registration) card holders are having their passports stamped again by the Spanish authorities on entry into Gibraltar. When the GSD last raised this in June this year the Government gave assurances that this practice would be dropped by Spain after representations it made. Read more

THE 13-POINT UK/GIBRALTAR POSITION THAT PAVES THE WAY
Although the visible Frontex impediment is out of the way, this does not necessarily mean that both sides are now in a final and definitive embrace. To marry the two sides may still be problematic, because a cursory reading of the two positions evinces serious differences of opinion.
As so far explained, Spanish police will not control border, airport and port movements, it will be Frontex which is an EU police. Even the question of the wire fence could lead to a political punch-up, as the Spaniards keep saying that the actual fence will be physically removed, while people in Gibraltar see the actual fence as a demarcation of sovereignty. The Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia yesterday afternoon participated in a meeting of the Contact Group between the EU Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the UK. The meeting opened as the European Council (ECOFIN) authorised the start of negotiations between the UK and the EU on the future relationship of Gibraltar with the European Union.
This UK-CoR Contact Group was set up in order to continue a dialogue at a regional, devolved and local level between areas of the EU and their UK counterparts after departure from the European Union. Read more

Unite, the union, says that the results of the Union’s stress survey are deeply concerning.
And add: “For the last six weeks we have distributed stress surveys for staff to complete due to the growing concerns of staff stress levels and staff feeling demoralised. The results of this survey from our members have shown that staff are feeling incredibly under pressure with 85% of survey respondents stating they feel stressed whilst at work. Read more
