The GHA can confirm that a person in Gibraltar has been identified as having the new coronavirus that causes COVID-19. The patient and their partner, who have recently returned from Northern Italy via Malaga airport, are currently self-isolating. The GHA cannot reveal any further details to protect patient confidentiality except to say that recovery is proceeding well. The patient’s partner has not experienced any symptoms, said statement. The coronavirus fever is spreading to Gibraltar, with some incidents causing alarm.
There was a young man who arrived by air and went across to La Linea. He attended hospital there, but people here were concerned about his having arrived here by air. Telephones kept ringing with one person telling the other about it, and the word spread. In the end no virus was detected on this person. Read more

The Government has formally named the new seafront promenade linking Camp Bay with Little Bay, west of Europa Pool, the Juan Carlos Perez Promenade, after much loved former Minister and politician, and GSLP Party Chairman, Juan Carlos Perez.
Mr Perez was a member of the House of Assembly for the GSLP from 1984 to 2003. He was a Minister from 1988 to 1996 and was best known for his work on Government Services including, in particular, his work on telecommunications. Read more

Year 2 pupils at Governor’s Meadow Lower Primary School were recently given an educational presentation by Brian Gomila from Monkey Talks. Pupils learned about our local Barbary Ma-caques, their habitat and diet. What really captured pupils’ interest was finding out about the ways our Barbary macaques interact and communicate not only with each other but also with people. Understanding how to “read” a monkey’s facial expression, sounds and movements helps us in the way we need to behave around our Barbary macaques. Read more
