The Department of Education has circulated to all schools Public Health guidelines for educational settings in Gibraltar. These include information on groups who are vulnerable to COVID-19. Generally, this virus can cause more severe symptoms in people with a weakened immune system (such as those suffering from cancer, or are on special medication), and older people (generally over the age of 70), especially those with long term conditions like heart disease, poorly controlled diabetes, poorly managed blood pressure and chronic lung disease. There are to be flights from Edinburgh to Gibraltar, thus linking the Rock with the Scottish capital. The flights will be operated by easyJet from the end of March. Read more

The Ministry of Equality has marked International Women’s Day 2020 with a highly successful Women in STEM panel discussion. The event, which was open to the public and was over-subscribed, featured women working locally in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Read more

The Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia has told the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Baroness Patricia Scotland, that Gibraltar is committed to the values of the Commonwealth and aims to develop further existing bonds with the organisation. This came about at a meeting yesterday morning in Marlborough House, London, where the Commonwealth Secretariat is based. Read more
