Nine students from Bayside and Westside Schools are back in Gibraltar after participating in a visit to the UK institutions and Commonwealth organisations in London. The visit was organised in conjunction with Mr Albert Danino and Mr Ivan Navas who accompanied the group together with their teachers. Read more

It was a miracle that no one was seriously hurt, when a motor bike was 'squashed' between two other vehicles in the Ragged Staff area on Queensway.
Initial information was that the motorcyclist suffered only minor injuries, despite the dramatic nature of the accident. The way it looks, it could have been worse. Read more

A major cultural exchange has been organised by Gibraltar Cultural Services between Gibraltar and Tangier. The project will be led by Mark Montovio from the JM Memorial Foundation and the GCS Cultural Development Unit. Read more

Why the only human group left on the planet are humans
Recently there have been new studies published where it has been reported that complex disease transmission patterns could explain how modern humans were able to wipe out Neanderthals in Europe and Asia, in just a few thousand years; with research coming to the conclusion of why possibly humans, are the only human group left on the planet. One doesn’t have to look back as far as the ice age, to realize that said phenomenon also caused the devastation of entire tribes of people during the New World age; to the point of near extinction. The Chief Minister Fabian Picardo, who holds the portfolios of Minister for Finance and Minister for International Exchange of Information, is in Paris to attend the tenth anniversary conference of the OECD Global Forum on Taxation.

The Gibraltar Mental Welfare Society is reiterating its call for the results of the audit on current mental health provision in Gibraltar, to be published. In February of this year an audit was carried out by the Mental Team of Public Health England. Many stakeholders were asked to contribute to this audit, including the GMWS. Unfortunately, to date, we have had no feedback on the findings. Read more

As a result of a fire declared Sunday evening in the basement of the building adjacent to St Bernard’s Hospital, the GHA activated evacuation protocol due to the presence of smoke having been detected within the hospital.
Patients of Rainbow Ward and residents of Calpe Ward were immediately transferred to adjacent, unaffected wards, and the GHA initiated the emergency smoke extraction systems. Read more
