The Col du Portillon which is a mountain pass in the Pyrenees on the border between France and Spain, is a border they say, of the absurd. A road pass which was closed on the edge of the French Pyrenees for months, and nobody knew why. Read more

The John Mackintosh Hall has served Gibraltar superbly since it was opened by one of my predecessors, General Sir Dudley Ward, on 8th April 1964. Today, however, it lacks the quality of facilities that our community deserves. The auditorium is small, the stage poorly equipped, the library out of date and the exhibition spaces similarly of a previous era. The cafe, in my humble opinion, serves the best coffee in Gibraltar, and the team that works there could not be friendlier or more attentive. But the staff work in a cramped kitchen, and there is little space overall for the guests. Read more

Founder of Clubhouse Gibraltar, Emily Adamberry Olivero has recently been appointed Chair of Clubhouse Europe. Although she retired from her post within Clubhouse Gibraltar a year ago, she has never lost sight of the Clubhouse Model.
Emily was elected at the Clubhouse Europe General Assembly on Thursday last week, alongside eight other candidates who were also elected into the board. Read more

The Airport Tunnel will open to all vehicular traffic on 31st March 2023 at 00:01. From this date, it will be the only regular access point for all cars and motorcycles (including commercial vehicles) to and from the frontier with Spain, Gibraltar International Airport, Eroski supermarket, Western Beach and Four Corners. The 2002 shared sovereignty fracas is one of those black legends of this Rock’s turbulent history. It is the reason why Gibraltarians do not have fond memories of the UK Labour Party from the last time they were in government. There is, of course, plenty of justification for this, given the then Labour leadership’s blatant push in that direction. But now it is clear that things have changed. Read more
