Gibraltar police arrest master and chief officer of the supertanker Grace 1 over violation of EU sanctions
As part of the ongoing investigation which led to the detention of the VCCL Grace 1 last week, the master and chief officer of the said vessel have been arrested today in relation to breaches of European Union Regulations 36/2012 concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Syria. This follows a protracted search of the vessel where documents and electronic devices have been seized and examined, said a statement from the Royal Gibraltar Police. Read more

The Spanish town of La Linea will be given a special tax statute that will cover activities in the insurance, financial and online gaming sectors.
Spain’s Socialist Workers’ Party of Andalusia signed a deal with the La Linea’s 100x100.

Prospect union is to ballot its members in NATS Gibraltar for industrial action over pay.
Air traffic controllers (ATCOs) working for NATS in Gibraltar are used to receiving annual pay increases based on those received by NATS staff in the UK. Changes in the management of the contract with the MOD covering air traffic control at Gibraltar Airport has meant the NATS’ pay offer for 2018 and 2019 falls short of ATCOs in the rest of the company. Following lengthy negotiations, a revised offer from NATS was deemed to be insufficient to resolve the dispute and so Prospect is balloting its ATCO members on whether they wish to take industrial action short of a strike.
