To one of our questions, we were told by No.6 Convent Place that the power cable was accidently damaged whilst a contractor was undertaking mechanical excavation works within the new comprehensive schools’ site. Read more

The Minister with responsibility for the University and for the Port, Gilbert Licudi, met last week with Kathryn Neilson, a director of the Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB). The meeting was part of the preparations for the courses on maritime training to be offered by the Gibraltar Maritime Academy at the University of Gibraltar. Also present at the meeting were representatives of the University, the Gibraltar Maritime Administration and the Gibraltar Port Authority as well as Gary Hindmarch, a maritime education consultant. The lifeless body of an adult male individual has recovered from the sea approximately 1.5 Nm off Europa Point.
At around noon yesterday the RGP marine crew were alerted to a sighting of a body floating in the sea off Europa Point by the Gibraltar Port Authority. The marine crew made their way to the location and commenced a search of the area locating the body at around 12.35pm. Read more

In the early hours of Sunday morning, HM Customs officers carrying out a routine patrol spotted and challenged a vehicle suspected of being involved in illicit tobacco activity. The occupants of the vehicle made good their escape and a search of the vehicle revealed a total of 750 cartons which were subsequently seized. Read more

Steve Bray, also known as ‘Stop Brexit Steve’, is regarded by many as the UK’s most famous anti-Brexit campaigner. Steve is visiting Gibraltar and La Linea this week to listen to Gibraltar’s concerns about Brexit. He is concerned that the views and voices of the people in Gibraltar and La Linea have not been heard in the UK and hopes to amplify these voices during his visit using both his voice and his social media presence.
