The Department of the Environment and HM Customs have led on this subject. The DoE alone has held over 90 meetings including with food suppliers and importers, both collectively and individually. Read more

Over the last ten years or so the taxpayer has paid several million pounds for the upgrade of the ASYCUDA IT system used by Gibraltar Customs. The rationale for doing this was that it would greatly improve the efficiency of clearing goods and collecting import duty and so improve the government’s cash flows. Soon after the new system was implemented, Gibraltar Customs embarked on a campaign to employ more than 70 additional customs officers, says the Chamber of Commerce. Read more

An investigation conducted in the United Kingdom has revealed a potential clear case of ‘Perverting the Course of Justice’ in relation to the case of two serving RGP officers who late last year appeared with three other local men in front of a Spanish criminal court charged with criminal offences, where in UK or in local law would be deemed as offences of dishonesty. Last week saw the Insight Project continue with local DJ Stuart Santos visiting Laguna Youth Club. Music is a big part of the youth club sessions and Youth Workers wanted to give the members an opportunity to learn the basics of DJing and the chance to express themselves with music. Read more

There are trees that are known to have roots that sometimes fuse with those of other members of its same species, creating a subterranean intersection of exchange between individual trees, to create a super organism. This is what we have been part of all along as members of the EU with the UK; part of supposedly, a civilized family of nations with a purpose, and goals which included promoting peace; breaking down barriers to trade and borders; promoting inclusion and combating discrimination; championing environmental protection etc. What went wrong? Study shows that when a tree is cut down and only the stump remains, it nevertheless continues to be a participating member of the local super organism. Read more
