As part of its Brexit contingency measures, the Government has successfully coordinated arrangements with Royal Mail so that all incoming Post Office mail and parcels to Gibraltar arrive on a direct flight from London.
Minister for Postal Services, Vijay Daryanani, thanked his predecessor and the public officials who have been involved in this work to find solutions to the potential threats that could arise from Brexit. Read more

The Chief Minister Fabian Picardo has completed the exercise of allocating portfolio responsibilities to the newly elected GSLP/Liberal Government Ministers, in consultation with the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia.
The Cabinet met briefly at midday for a short meeting following last week’s general election. Individual Ministers were then seen separately by the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. Read more

The penny may now have finally dropped that security in Gibraltar is not only a complete shambles and a precarious disgrace, it’s much more serious than that. I have repeatedly drawn attention in Panorama to this hugely important issue that affects us all. Including the fact that in my opinion, the main danger regarding general security in and around Gibraltar is precisely from those supposedly, providing the security to the people of Gibraltar in the first place! The GSD has reacted promptly to the incursion by the Spanish Government's state vehicle, which has caused an uproar in public opinion.
The unhindered entry of a Spanish 'Proteccion Civil' vehicle into Gibraltar on Sunday afternoon 'is inexplicable and needs a full investigation,' they said. Read more

Gibraltar's New Movement said that the incident whereby Spanish "Proteccion Civil" officers have not been stopped when driving across our border, was a situation that is very worrying for the people of Gibraltar and causes alarm.
Gibraltar's New Movement adds that it is appalled and concerned about this incident as the "Proteccion Civil", which is a uniformed body of the Spanish state, has managed to pass through the Frontier in an official vehicle and wearing the full State issued uniforms into Gibraltar passing through the Spanish entry check point and Gibraltar’s immigration then HM Customs check point un-challenged. Last week the Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo and the Minister for Sport, Steven Linares officially inaugurated the home of the Gibraltar Darts Association. The club house situated within the new Europa Sports Complex has been named the “George Federico Darts Hall”, in recognition of George’s long standing membership and a member of the committee of the GDA, his achievements and many titles gained during the years. A Double Tax Agreement has been signed by the Gibraltar Government which had been working towards such an outcome for several years with the substantive text agreed on the 1 August 2019 and the final text agreed in the second week of September 2019.
The Agreement will position Gibraltar’s offering on a secure footing as Gibraltar exits the EU alongside the UK. Clearly, the signing of the Agreement comes at critical time for Gibraltar as the Brexit process nears its conclusion. Read more

To mark the 214th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, the traditional Act of Remembrance was held within the Trafalgar Cemetery, Gibraltar. Commander Michael Maher Royal Navy, Commanding Officer Royal Navy and Commander Stuart Lawrence Royal Navy, Commanding Officer Joint Support Unit placed wreaths on the graves of those who died as a result of the Battle. The PANORAMA OPINION POLL was once again the most accurate poll in forecasting the result of the general election. At the beginning of election week we announced our poll and said that the GSLP/Liberals would top the poll with 10 seats; that the GSD would secure 6 Opposition seats and that Together Gibraltar would secure one Opposition seat. That was the result of the election itself.
And at a time when it was thought that the GSLP/Liberals would secure over 60% of the votes, in keeping with their 2015 result of 68%, the PANORAMA Poll put the party at the much lower 54%. When the 300+ spoilt votes were removed from the actual election total, the GSLP/ Liberals obtained close to 53%. Read more

The new Gibraltar government, sworn in ahortly after the election result was known, will now take a new step, with the Chief Minister allotting ministerial responsibilities.
