The Chief Minister’s intervention before the procedure committee of the house of commons has thrust voting rights in U.K. Elections into the spotlight. This followed an amendment to U.K. Law which provided for non-resident citizens who had voted in the past to register to do so again in the future.
POLICY
Although the relevant legislation was adopted in amendments to the U.K. Election Act 2022, the measure came into effect in the middle of January 2024.
