UK SUPPORT FOR GIBRALTAR IN FORMAL POLICY DECLARATION

It is good news that the UK government has reaffirmed the right to self-determination for the people of all its Overseas Territories including Gibraltar. Equally positive for the Falkland Islands and Gibraltar, is the pledge to defend those facing hostile sovereignty claims.

RADAR
These comments came in a Declaration agreed just before Christmas between the United Kingdom government and the Governments of the different Overseas Territories. Although reported briefly, the document by and large passed under the radar in terms of its real significance in the context of the relationship between them all.

There were two meetings of the Joint Ministerial Council during 2023.
