The long pedestrian and vehicular queues to enter Spain over the holiday period, while treaty negotiations continued, will have only served to exacerbate further the anger and mistrust of Madrid which already exists in Gibraltar. The notion that overnight our “enemy” can become our friend will be a difficult argument to make in the event that a treaty is ever concluded.
POLICY
It is obvious too that those who make Spanish foreign policy on Gibraltar know surprising little about the subject.
