Congressional visit reflects growing links with USA

The arrival and departure from the Rock this weekend of senior representatives of the US Congress is an important development. They may well have visited on other occasions, but a fact-finding mission at this juncture sends a serious message which cannot be ignored.

COMPLICATED
The authorities have been unusually tight-lipped about the visit. This may have had more to do with keeping Madrid as sweet as possible than anything else. No doubt such a task was already complicated enough simply because these Members had the temerity of calling at Gibraltar in the first place.
