The Covid 19 pandemic has decimated health services all over the world and led to a resetting of medical care everywhere.
Here in Gibraltar, as evidenced by the recent reform to the appointments system, much of the problem is still focussed on getting the basics right. Yet despite countless attempts on the part of different governments to tackle these questions, the truth is that most reforms so far have done little more than to scratch the surface. It is important to wait and see what happens now.
RESOURCESThe indications are that the running malaise of the health service cuts much deeper than simply money or resources - even though this is how different administrations have tried to solve the problem. The GSLP increased the health budget from some £6 million when they found it in 1988 to £24 million when they left office in 1996.
