Week five of the Summer Sports and Leisure Programme is upon us, and this week sees the RLSS Rookie Lifeguard Summer Camp begin. The camp is organised by The Royal Life Saving Society Gibraltar and is aimed at children aged 10 to 14. Children attending must be able to swim 200 metres and it is on until Friday.
RLSS Gibraltar forms part of the UK based drowning prevention charity the Royal Life Saving Society, which was founded in 1891. Their initial aim was to safeguard lives in, on and near water and they have had Royal Patronage since 1904.
The Rookie Lifeguard Programme is an exciting and enjoyable lifesaving awards scheme for young children, which teaches self-rescue, survival, rescue and lifesaving sport skills.
