Over £5 million owed in Govt housing rents

As the arrears figures show, the consistent escalation of House Rents arrears in recent years, which had continued into the year ended 31 March 2016, was reversed by 31 March 2017. 

The year-on-year percentage decrease of 8.2% at the end of the financial year 2016-17 is a very welcome change to the regular year-on-year increases in arrears experienced in the recent past, which reflected a lack of effective strategy and policy in the management and recovery of arrears by the Housing Department, says Principal Auditor A.R. Sacramento.
