British Forces Gibraltar hosts their own ‘one show’
The focus of the event was personal wellbeing and being the best you can be. There were 38 different organisations present at the event covering three main areas; Physical and Mental Health, Education and Training, Community and Sport Groups.
From within the military organisations, there were representatives from a number of areas. The Princess Royal Medical Centre was raising awareness of Women’s and Men’s Health. The Occupational Therapist had a very busy time taking people’s blood pressure and discussing wider health risks of having high blood pressure. The Joint Physical Development Unit took the opportunity to showcase the wide range of activities that they have on offer. John De La Rosa and his team representing the Joint Education Training Service presented the training and education opportunities open to all MOD personnel.
There was a wonderful mix of Gibraltar-based organisations and those that cater specifically for the British Forces Gibraltar community. Those attending commented on how they had not been aware of how many different organisations within Gibraltar that could support them and their families.
A number of individuals gave demonstrations of the physical training that they have on offer. Louise Kane presented two sessions for Lou’s Fitness - a mix of aerobics and boxing. Warrant Officer Jason Edgar showed his Tai Chi skills. A number of personnel also received a session from a therapeutic hypnotist to help them quit smoking.
