Gibraltar takes part in mountain race between two continents and three countries
The 2018 edition will be held on Wednesday 31st October and will once again start from Europa Point at approximately 3pm.
The event maintains its uniqueness in as far as it is the only mountain race in the world to be held between two continents and three countries with Gibraltar now an integral part of the experience.
It continues to attract participants from far and wide with over 1,000 participants from 9 different countries expected once again.
As with previous editions participants will face the established stages of the 25 or 50 kms legs in the Alcornocales Natural Park with the Moroccan leg this year been moved to the town of Belynouch. The spectacular surroundings of Jbel Musa will greet participants during this final section.
The 4km vertical climb from Europa Point to O’ Hara’s Battery (via Mediterranean Steps) will this year also have a slight variation to the route due to the works at the Lathbury Sports Complex with contestants turning up to Europa Road before climbing Windmill Hill and then on to Jew’s Gate. The Gibraltar Vertical Climb will once again be the starting point of a spectacular event.
Sports minister Steven Linares and environment minister John Cortes say they are delighted to continue the partnership with the organisers of the Eurafrica Trail.
