Frontex has not yet been formally engaged or involved in the negotiations between the United Kingdom and the European Union about the future relationship of Gibraltar with the bloc. This emerged in response by the European Commission to a question in the European Parliament.

This will no doubt come as a surprise given the key role that Frontex is expected to play in the controls to enter the Schengen Area from here in the event of a successful outcome to the treaty. Read more

Since the 8th February 2023, the Care Agency’s Events Committee, with the support from all its diverse departments, individual staff, and members of the public have purposefully undertaken the objective of raising funds for the Gibraltar Red Cross Turkey- Syria Appeal. The British Red Cross launched an urgent appeal for funds, and the Gibraltar Red Cross is supporting that appeal. Read more

Spain has ramped up its military activity in the area of Gibraltar in pursuit of their traditional ambition to control the Strait. The continued presence of the United Kingdom in the area, through its facilities at Gibraltar, has long been regarded by many in Madrid as an obstacle to this ambition. Read more
