More weakness from FCO leads to more invasions
It’s incredible that after years and innumerable incidents including thousands of incursions into British/Gibraltar Waters by Spanish state vessels, who pretty much, do what they want. But made easy for them by the useless diplomatic exchanges between the British and Spanish Government and driven by the soft and quite hopeless FCO Gibraltar policy with Spain which is everything, that is wrong with the Gibraltar sovereignty issue with Spain. Unite, the union for workers in Gibraltar, has called for an end to austerity pay in the MOD. A delegation of Unite representatives and members from the Ministry of Defence met with senior lay officials and also the union’s UK officer with national responsibility for the MOD, Caren Evans last week.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the on-going impact of pay restraints imposed by the MOD as part of the UK government’s austerity measures. Read more

In just over a week 50 plus yachts will assemble in the Bay of Gibraltar to sail in company to the new Tanja Marina Bay complex in the heart of Tanger. Yachts from Gibraltar, Spain, Portugal, Morocco and US will be taking part. Read more

Illegal fishing in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters could be curbed if the Gibraltar Government pushed the UK to designate the area as a marine protected reserve.
A marine reserve would ensure legal protection against fishing or development around BGTW that would be recognised worldwide and pressure Spain to halt its incursions. Read more

The GSD condemns the actions of a Spanish Guardia Civil Launch that intentionally cut the fishing lines of a local recreational angler who had hooked a tuna and was clearly well within British Gibraltar Territorial waters. Read more
