A 38 year old male was arrested yesterday by RGP Firearms Officers after being seen by members of the public riding a motorcycle, whilst carrying what was suspected to be a firearm at Waterport Road.
The suspected firearm was found to be a replica sub machine gun and he was subsequently arrested for conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace. Read more

The Ministry for Health and Care has launched the new Pedal Ready initiative within local schools which is based on the UK National Standards for cycling training.
This first cycling course, held on Monday, saw eleven St. Joseph’s School, Year 6 students participate in Level 1 training, focussing on teaching the basic skills of balance and riding a bicycle safely. The training team consisted of four instructors, two of whom were Trainer Instructors overseeing the whole initiative. All eleven participants successfully completed and passed Level 1; similar training will now be carried out throughout other schools in Gibraltar. Read more

The Government has this week started to fulfill its manifesto commitment to provide hot lunches in schools. Students at Westside school were the first to sample the dishes provided by Smart Kitchen, the company which won the Government contract for this purpose. Read more

Spain’s Socialist Party PSOE yesterday afternoon reached a preliminary coalition deal with the Unidas Podemos to form a government. This was reached within 48 hours of Sunday's general election, as PSOE leader Pedro Sanchez had said earlier.
Sanchez will be President and Podmos' leader Pablo Iglesias will be vice-President.
Other smaller parties are being brought in, as the coalition needs to have a majority in the Spanish parliament.
The PSOE could have struck a coalition with Podemos instead of calling a general election, but Sanchez wanted to have an all-PSOE government. Read more

The University of Gibraltar launches the sixth series of its Gibraltar History Lectures this Friday with a talk about small Jewish communities.
Israeli businesswoman, journalist and professional researcher Ayelet Mamo Shay will be delivering a talk that covers her research into small Jewish communities. Ayelet moved to Gibraltar from Israel and is now the Co-Founder of Benefit Business Solutions and the Chairwoman of the Gibraltar-Israel Chamber of Commerce (Gibrael). Read more

The Ministry of Business, Tourism and Transport will open its doors to the general public every other Wednesday. This new initiative will allow people to meet directly with Minister Vijay Daryanani and raise with him issues relevant to his portfolio.
This initiative will commence on Wednesday 20th November and continue every other Wednesday from 10am until 12 noon, by way of pre-booked appointment. Read more

Should we all breath a sigh of relief because the PSOE party overcame the far-right VOX surge in Sunday’s Spanish elections, I don’t think so?
I do not agree we should be patting Pedro Sanchez on the back, not only because he has emerged politically weaker having made an almighty cock-up when he called the national election in Spain. But mainly, because I am against Gibraltar extending neighbourly political gestures or niceties at every opportunity, when absolutely nothing has changed with the Spanish Political attitude and position towards Gibraltar. I have this information from a reliable Spanish political source and other related news. A story that will feature in a future Panorama report. Read more

The Gibraltar Youth Service recently held various events with the aim of making their members more environmentally friendly. Earlier this month a clothing exchange, a pilot project in a bid to tackle fashion footprint, was held and this was followed by a project in which young people designed and built an urban garden out of recycled materials.
