The Ministry of Equality has announced that it will be marking International Women’s Day 2020 with a Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) panel discussion. The event will take place on Tuesday 3rd March and feature a number of women who work in these fields locally. Read more

The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo,is to continue holding his ‘On Location’ meetings in and around Gibraltar.
These community-focussed meetings follow on from last year’s initiative in which clinics were held around Gibraltar to provide communities with more direct access to the Chief Minister. Read more

The government says it notes that the committee of experts on the evaluation of anti-money laundering measures and the financing of terrorism (Moneyval) has now published its Mutual Evaluation Report (MER) on Gibraltar, and adds that this evaluation has been carried out at the express request of the Government of Gibraltar 'in order for us to better understand the areas in which we are progressing well and the areas which require additional work and resources.' Last month, the government announced that it was set to introduce ‘Jack’s Law’ under which bereaved parents would be entitled to two weeks of paid leave from work. This legislation had become known as ‘Jack’s Law’ in UK, in memory of Jack Herd. Read more

The mayor of La Linea has recently sent a document to the Madrid government citing one of his preferences is the joint use of the Gibraltar airport. This reminds me of the last time that an airport deal was put forward, when Gibraltar went up in arms and there was a major demonstration of opposition to it. Read more

Threat Level for Gibraltar Remains Unchanged
A meeting of the Gibraltar Contingency Council (GCC) took place yesterday, to review security and civil contingency matters, including Gibraltar’s preparedness for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). The meeting was co-chaired by the Governor and the Deputy Chief Minister, in what was the Governor‘s last GCC meeting. Read more
