The outcome of the general election may point for some to a collapse of the block vote and more people voting mixed. This is one way to interpret the result, although there are obviously other important conclusions that can be drawn.

PROBLEM
The fact that candidates were elected in an order which was mixed between the party blocs would suggest at first blush that the problem was the block votes. In a sense it was. However, the issue appears to have been that the two blocks were too close to each other, rather than they crumbled in favour of split voting.
