The Gibraltar Parliament met yesterday afternoon and to begin the session, an Oath of Allegiance to King Charles III took place, followed by a tribute to the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo explained that “when it came to Her Majesty, Mr Speaker, we were Her Rock, and she was ours and in much more than the geological meaning of those words” and added that for all the time the Parliament has existed, as well as its predecessor, the House of Assembly, “we were Her Majesty’s seat of Government in Gibraltar. For all honourable members except Sir Joe and although it would be rude of me to ask perhaps, yourself as a member if not an elected member” Mr Picardo said to the Speaker of the House, “we, the rest of us, have all been born in her reign.”
