IN FOCUS by RYAN ASQUEZ
It’s that time of year when our streets are once again graced by the presence of Christmas lights. From Southport Gates to Casemates, these decorations herald the coming of Christmas.
But, as with much else, they can be a point of contention. Some hold that the lights are dull, and that the ones we had before (those with tinsel wreaths and different colour light bulbs), were more festive. For others, the lights are the perfect expression of the Christmas spirit. I took to the streets to gauge public opinion on Main Street’s Christmas lights.
A number of the people who I encountered on Main Street were quite positive about the lights. One person thought that they were ‘ok’, while another said that they were ‘nice’. Another lady believed that although they were ‘very plain’, they were an improvement on those from previous years. Some of the old lights, she added, often had bulbs that did not work.
