Parents of teenagers in Gibraltar are invited to attend an evening training session on Thursday 4th April from 7.30-9.30pm at Bleak House on the topic of Drugs & Alcohol Awareness. 

Sponsored by HM Government of Gibraltar as part of their Drugs Strategy, and organised by Rock Learning, the seminar will be facilitated by Amy Carter of ACE Drug Training in the UK. The evening will include a look at what drugs are, the effects and the law; advice and guidance on ‘Talking to your children about Drugs’; signs of symptoms drug use; dealing with disclosures and incidents and an opportunity for questions and answers.

The Chief Minister noted, ‘Drug and alcohol addiction awareness is something we are striving to work very hard with in order to ensure the safety of our community. The Government together with its Drug Strategy unit is therefore pleased to support this initiative’.

Amy Carter spent almost ten years working for a young person drug and alcohol service based in the UK, She has worked with hundreds of recreational and drug dependent children and young people and the work focussed predominantly on education, behavioural change, safeguarding, safety and harm reduction messages. Amy now raises awareness amongst young people, parents and professionals on Drugs & Alcohol and travels around the UK to schools, social services and corporates to deliver her training workshops. She will spend a week in Gibraltar delivering training to local schools and professionals from the public and NGO sectors.
