Overpopulation, the hope of better trade opportunities and anchovy fishing were among the reasons the Genoese settled in Gibraltar. These were a few of the insights shared by local historian, Tito Benady during a packed-out lecture at the University of Gibraltar on Friday. Among the audience were students from Bayside and Westside comprehensive schools.
Gibraltar History Lectures are open to the public and take place at 10am every Friday until 8th March.
