From rock-bottom to Sicily singles win for Amanda
Amanda playing in only her second tournament back after an eighteen month lay off due to successive wrist operations beat top seed Catalina Pella from Argentina 6-4 3-6 7-5 in the final to record her tenth singles professional title.
Amanda, delighted with her win, described it as probably the most important win of her career to date after reaching rock bottom during the last year. She added that she would keep working hard to regain her place in the tennis world rankings, which has obviously suffered due to her long layoff and foresees that her best tennis is still to come.
Amanda intends to finish the tennis season gaining as much match practice as possible and then thoroughly preparing herself during pre-season for the 2019 season that will hopefully bring her back to the level where she feels she belongs.
