Earth Hour is a global “LIGHTS OFF” initiative which sees hundreds of millions of people from more than 7,000 cities and towns worldwide turn off their lights for one hour to raise awareness of climate change and sustainable practices. Our Vice-Chancellor, Prof Daniella Tilbury, formed part of the team that created Earth Hour in 2007 and established this global movement.
This year, the University has teamed up with the Mayor’s Office as well as our neighbouring community including the Shrine of Our Lady of Europe and the Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque and Europa Point Stakeholders. We now invite you to join the movement to build a more sustainable future by turning off your non-essential lights at home during the event.
"Do share the moment with family and friends and consider how you can reduce your carbon footprint with a commitment to an action that benefits the planet beyond the hour," they say.
