A Government without an effective Opposition does not help the current debate, mainly about the role of each party, including the various labels, not all nice, that are mischievously pinned on both party leaders from each opposing side. Our job in the media is to report, inform and create debate, which I have endeavoured to do in Panorama countless times over the years. Read more

As the days go by, it looks like Brexit; with its reassurance from the UK in words at least for now; plus the role being played by our Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister who have come in for much praise from those in high places for their astute and intelligent handling of brexit matters; something which we take pride in; it looks like we are moving in a very positive direction. You might be wondering where I got the idea for the title of this morning’s article. Well in fact it goes back about 10 years during the US elections when previous US president Obama was at the time a candidate running against the late John McCain, during Obama’s first run for office.

Lord Palmerston once said that “Nations have no permanent friends or allies, they only have permanent interests.” This has never rung true in Whitehall as far as Spain is concerned; but actually it does with Spain, as far as the UK is concerned. Spanish friendships are purely “postizos” and ushered by self interest. Read more

It takes a brave individual to shoulder activism in a small but progressive Gibraltarian society. Many movements are shrewdly cut at the stem to prevent growth of ideas, but it is those who stand firm against such malicious advances who should be given the utmost credit. Read more
