I also wish to thank from afar, those who were involved in organising such spectacular events for her Majesty`s Platinum jubilee, in the UK. We are after all, part of the British and Commonwealth family; a worldwide brotherhood of nations.

The other evening Some of us had been to a mass at St. Theresa`s and had parked our cars in the big car park close to it. We have our Gibraltar flag with which we proudly adorn our balconies every year, to celebrate Gibraltar’s National Day. During the rest of the year we continue our everyday living as British Gibraltarian citizens, without the need to show a flag at every corner as proof of our heritage. Read more

First we had Frontex getting in on the act and trying to reassure us that everyone is working with our best interests at heart. Then we have the new Spanish foreign affairs minister; do you recall how I said that in Ms Laya we had lost an ally; who says that in his meeting with his London counterpart he has reassured him that Spain intends to comply with the accord reached last Christmas Eve. I had heard through the grapevine; that Morrison’s store was leaving us, and instead an American firm was coming in its place. I and others who were commenting this were so disappointed to think that English goods that we had become accustomed to; “remember their slogan “working for the Community;” are not going to be available any more. When one reads in the global digital Spanish diary `el Independiente `that Morocco and Spain are condemned to understanding each other, because of their economic, geographic and security links, this Gibraltarian immediately thinks of the UK and Gibraltar, who share the very same links. Furthermore when one continues reading that for decades they have had a bumpy relationship; this Gibraltarian once again thinks of the UK, but more so of Gibraltar. Read more
